Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows RT 8.1 Preview are prerelease versions of Windows 8.1. They build on Windows 8 and bring you more ways to stay productive, have fun, and do all the things you need and want to do on your PC. Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows RT 8.1 Preview include enhancements in personalization, search, apps, the Windows Store, and cloud connectivity, and have the security and reliability features you expect from Windows. They re fast, and made to work on a variety of form factorsespecially the new generation of touch devices.
Heres your chance to be one of the first to try out the preview. We ll use your feedback to make the final product even better.

What s new in Windows 8.1
1.Boot to Desktop
2.More rows on start screen and additional tile sizes.
3.Improvements for mouse and keyboard users on the desktop and start screen.
4.Snap View feature improved, supports now up to three apps.
5.Internet Explorer 11.
6.Windows Defender with network behavior monitoring.
7.Device Lockdown with Assigned Access (RT, Pro and Enterprise) to enable a "single Windows Store application experience on a device".
8.Pervasive Device Encryption for all Windows editions. Enabled out of the box and can be configured "with additional BitLocker protection and management capabilities".
9.Improved Biometrics including optimization for fingerprint based biometrics.
10.Remote Business data removal.
11.Support for a wider range of VPN clients and auto-triggered VPN.
12.Broadband tethering.
13.Windows Store enabled by default for Windows To Go users.
14.Bring your own Device enhancements such as work folders, Wi-Fi direct printing, RDS enhancements and web application proxy.
15.SkyDrive is integrated natively into Windows 8.1 but does not sync data automatically to the PC. Placeholders are displayed instead.
16.You need to sign in to a Microsoft account to use the store.
17.All Windows 8 apps will work on Windows 8.1 but not the other way round.

3.In the Store, follow the instructions to download and complete the installation.

Note before you download: If you don t have recovery media, we recommend that you create a USB recovery drive before you install Windows 8.1 Preview so that you can go back to Windows 8 if you need to.
