Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark จะเป็นเกมยิงมุมมองบุคคลที่สาม โดยจะออกพร้อมๆกับภาพยนต์ Transformers: Age of Extinction และรองรับผู้เล่นในฉากสูงสุดถึง40คนเกมนี้ผลิตโดยสตูดิโอ High Moon’s ของบ.Activition ที่เคยสร้างผลงานไว้ในเกมTransformers: War for Cybertron และภาค Fall of Cybertron

เนื้อเรื่องของเกม จะพูดถึงการตามล่า Dark Spark ที่เป็นเครื่องรางโบราณที่ทรงอำนาจ (เหมือนกับ Matrix of Leadership ที่อยู่ในอกของออพติมัส ไพรม์) โดยผู้เล่นจะสลับกันเล่นเป็นทั้ง ดีเซปติคอน และ ออโต้บอท ในโหมด single-player และเนื้อหา จะเชื่อมโยงกันแบบ “โลกคู่ขนาน” ที่เชื่อมโยงกับหนังโรงภาคล่าสุดด้วย
