Life is Strange เนื้อเรื่องของเกมจะเกี่ยวกับ "Max Caulfield" นักเรียนที่ย้ายกลับมาที่เมือง Oregon พร้อมกับเพื่อนของเธอ "Chloe" โดยเหตุผลที่เธอกลับมาที่เมือง Oregon ในครั้งนี้ก็เพื่อสืบสวนคดีปริศนาที่ทำให้เพื่อนนักเรียนของเธอ "Rachel Amber" หายตัวไปอย่างลึกลับ โดยในภายหลัง Max ได้ค้นพบว่าตัวเธอนั้นมีพลังที่สามารถย้อนเวลาได้ซึ่งพลังนี้จะทำให้ผู้เล่นสามารถย้อนกลับไปแก้ไขเหตุการณ์ต่างๆที่เกิดขึ้นมาแล้วในอดีตได้นั่นเอง
