Far Cry 4 ในเกมภาคต่อลำดับสี่นี้ จะถูกเซตฉากขึ้นบนแดนสมมติ Kyrat ถิ่นป่าแดนเถื่อนอันสวยงามที่เต็มไปด้วยภยันตรายในหิมาลัย ซึ่ง ณ ดินแดนแห่งนี้ได้ถูกปกครองโดยจอมเผด็จการผู้แต่งตั้งตนเองขึ้นเป็นกษัตริย์ และเช่นเคยเหมือนภาคที่แล้ว ผู้เล่นจะได้สร้างเรื่องราวของตนเองบนภูมิประเทศโอเพ่นเวิลด์อันน่าหลงใหล ไปพร้อมกับการตะเกียกตะกายเอาชีวิตรอดจากราชาจอมกดขี่ด้วยคลังอาวุธ ยานพาหนะ รวมถึงสัตว์ป่าที่มีอยู่มากมายหลากชนิด
