Minecraft: Story Mode หลังเป็นเกมแนว Open World มานาน ในที่สุด เกม Minecraft ก็จะมีเนื้อเรื่องแล้ว โดยครั้งนี้ได้ทาง Telltale ผู้ที่เคยผลิตเกมชื่อดังอย่าง The Walking Dead กับ Game of Thrones a มาแล้ว มาช่วยเขียนบทให้กับทาง Mojang เพื่อร่วมกันสร้าง Minecraft: Story Mode ออกมา ในเกมนั้น เราจะได้รับบทเป็น Jesse ซึ่งได้ร่วมผองเพื่อน ที่เป็นทั้ง Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, และ Architect ซึ่งตามตำนานของสี่นักผจญภัยผู้ปริดชีพมังกรในเรื่อง ทั้งหมดได้รับคำไหว้วานให้ไปตามหา The Order of the Stone หลังจากพวกเขา ค้นพบความผิดปกติของโลก จึงต้องออกตามหาหินในตำนานที่ว่านี้ เพื่อเอามาช่วยเหลือโลกที่กำลังเจอกับภัยพิบัติอยู่นั้นเอง
