Tales from the Borderlands นำเสนอเนื้อหาตอนใหม่ที่เล่าเป็นตอนๆ กล่าวถึงการผจญภัยของ Rhys ผู้ที่มีแผนล้มบริษัท Hyperion หลังหัวหน้าอันสุดไร้ปรานีพยายามกดดันและเอาเปรียบพนักงาน ทำให้เขาได้ร่วมทีมกับเพื่อนร่วมงานอย่าง Vaughn กับ Yvette ในการค้นหาสิ่งของล้ำค่าอย่าง Vault Key เพื่อไขกล่องแพนโดร่า เพื่อใช้ต่อรองกับหัวหน้า โดยแผนครั้งนี้จะทำการยักยอกเงินล้านดอลล่าร์เพื่อซื้อกับผู้ขายกุญแจ Vault Key แต่แล้ว มันกลับไม่ราบรื่น เพราะมีอุปสรรคกมากมายที่พยายามขโมยเงินและครอบครอบกุญแจดอกนี้ ภายเกมส์นำเสนอ ตัวละครเกมส์ใหม่ๆรวมถึงตัวละครเก่าที่อิงจากเกมส์ภาคแรกและภาคปัจจุบัน ส่วนรูปแบบการเล่น คาดว่าจะเหมือนกับเกมส์ The Walking Dead ที่เป็นลักษณะผจญถีงกึ่งเนื้อเรื่องที่ให้ผู้เล่นตัดสินใจกับเนื้อหาในเกมส์และส่งผลกับเนื้อในอนาคต จุดเด่นของเกมส์นี้คือ มีการหักมุม และตอนจบของแต่ละเนื้อเรื่องในหลากหลายรูปแบบ ขึ้นอยู่กับการตัดสินใจของผู้เล่น Tales from the Borderlands จะแยกขายเป็น 5 Episode
