The Witness เป็นเกม single-player ผจญภัยในโลกกว้างกับสถานที่ต่างๆ หลายสิบ ที่พร้อมให้ผู้เล่นสำรวจ เเละเเก้ปริศนามากกว่า 500 ปริศนา ในเเต่ละปริศนาผู้เล่นจะต้องนำความคิดใหม่ๆมาผสมผสานกัน เรื่องราวของเกมนั้นคุณจะตื่นขึ้นมาบนเกาะแปลกประหลาดที่เต็มไปด้วยปริศนาเเละสิ่งท้าทายต่างๆที่พร้อม surprise ตลอดเวลา คุณจะจำไม่ได้ว่าคุณคือใคร เเละมาที่นี่ได้อย่างไร แต่สิ่งเดียวที่คุณทำได้คือ สำรวจเกาะนี้โดยหวังที่จะพบเบาะเเสเพื่อที่จะเอาความทรงจำกลับคืนมา เเละหาทางกลับบ้าน
