The Sinking City ผลงานเกมจากทาง Frogwares (ผลงานเก่าคือ Sherlock Holmes) เป็นเกมแนวผจญภัยสืบสวนสอบสวนสยองขวัญมุมมองบุคคลที่สาม เป็นโครงการที่ใหญ่ที่สุดและมีความทะเยอทะยานที่สุดของทีมงาน Frogwares ที่ทำให้เกมสืบสวนสยองขวัญเกมนี้เล่นแบบ Openworld และมีฉากจบมากกว่า 1 แบบ ตามการตัดสินใจผู้เล่น
ฉากหลังของเกมนี้จะเล่าเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้นในเมืองสมมติที่ชื่อ โอ๊คเมาท์ ในรัฐเมสซาจูเซตต์ (Oakmont, Massachusetts) เมืองที่มีสีสัน มั่งคั่งในช่วงปีทศวรรษที่ 20 ยุครุ่งเรืองของเศรษฐกิจ เพลงแจ๊ส เหล่ามาเฟียแก๊งสเตอร์หลากหลายเชื้อชาติ และการเหยียดชาติพันธุ์กันอย่างดุเดือด แต่ในความรุ่งเรืองและวุ่นวายนี้ เมืองโอ๊คเมาท์เองก็ขึ้นชื่อเรื่องความลี้ลับน่ากลัว ตามมรดกของชาวไวกิ้งและชาวอินเดียนแดงที่อาศัยอยู่ในนี้มาก่อน พวกเขามีเรื่องเล่าว่ามีปฏิบัติพิธีกรรมทางศาสนาที่น่าตกตะลึง แถมคนในท้องที่เองก็ไม่ค่อยต้อนรับคนแปลกหน้าซักเท่าไหร่นัก
การเล่นเกมนี้มีจุดที่เป็นเกมแนว Adventure คือการ Point & Click แบบเกมสืบสวนทั่วไป อ่านเอกสาร ตีความ จนนำไปสู่การเฉลยว่าเกิดเรื่องอะไรขึ้น อีกส่วนหนึ่งคือเกมแอคชั่นเอาตัวรอด เพราะเกมนี้มีเหล่าสัตว์ประหลาดให้ได้ยิงกัน บางตัวถ้าฆ่าได้ก็เท่ากับปิดคดีได้เลย แต่ว่ายา กับกระสุนที่มี ก็จัดว่าน้อยมากๆ และตัวเกมเองก็มีความหลากหลายในการใช้อาวุธยิง เช่นปืนลูกซอง ไรเฟิล ปืนกล ปืนพก อีกสารพัดที่สามารถหาได้จากเควสนั่นเอง
