ผู้เล่นจะได้รับบทเป็น มอร์แกน ยู หนึ่งในมนุษย์ที่เป็นอาสาสมัครการทดลองเพื่อหาทางการป้องกันการสูญพันธุ์ของมนุษย์ คุณจะตื่นขึ้นมาบนยานทาลอส 1 ในปี 2032 และต้องออกค้นหาความลับที่ถูกซ่อนอยู่ในส่วนลึกของสถานีอวกาศ ขณะเดียวกันคุณก็ต้องเอาตัวรอดจากพวกเอเลี่ยนลึกลับที่หมายตาเอาชีวิตคุณด้วยเช่นกัน
ผู้กำกับเกม ราฟาเอล โคลันโตนิโอ เปิดเผยว่าเนื้อเรื่องของเกมจะไม่ใช่การทำภารกิจไปเรื่อยๆ จากหนึ่งไปสอง จากสองไปสามเหมือน Dishonored แต่มันจะเป็นพื้นที่กว้างใหญ่ที่คุณสามารถกลับมาสำรวจพื้นที่เก่าซ้ำได้ และคุณจะได้เล่นเป็นทั้งตัวละครหลักหญิงและชาย แปลว่าไม่ได้มีแค่มอร์แกนคนเดียวอย่างทีเ่ห็นในตัวอย่าง
