ตัวเกม NASCAR Heat 5 ถือได้ว่าเป็นภาคล่าสุดของซีรีส์ NASCAR Heat เกมแข่งรถสุดมันส์ที่จะให้เราได้สวมบทบาทเป็น “นักแข่ง” ในสนามแข่งรถรูปแบบ Xtreme Dirt Tour ที่มีให้เราเลือกเล่นมากกว่า 39 เส้นทางการแข่งขัน อีกทั้งในภาคนี้ทีมผู้พัฒนาเผยว่าระบบออนไลน์จะโดดเด่นมากกว่าภาคที่ผ่าน ๆ มา เรียกว่าเป็นการมอบประสบการณ์ในการเล่นที่เหนือชั้นมากขึ้น รวมไปถึงกราฟิกที่พัฒนาอย่างก้าวกระโดด

ระบบภายในเกม NASCAR Heat 5 จะมีการท้าท้ายผู้เล่นในรูปแบบฤดูกาลแข่งขันแบบต่าง ๆ ซึ่งผู้เล่นจะต้องไต่ระดับตัวเองขึ้นไปเรื่อย ๆ จนกลายเป็นนักแข่งมืออาชีพที่มีคนรู้จัก ภายในเกมยังมีโหมดฝึกฝนเพื่อให้เราสามารถชินกับรถที่ใช้ขับ รวมไปถึงสนามแข่งขันต่าง ๆ ได้ แล้วภาคนี้ยังได้เพิ่ม “eNASCAR Heat ProLeague” ที่เป็นระบบใหม่ที่เกมอื่นยังไม่เคยทำมาก่อน
