ก่อนเกมภาค 2 จะมา ก็ดูเหมือนว่าทีมงานจะยังอยากขายภาคแรกทิ้งทวนกันอีกสักหนึ่งรอบ Dying Light: Platinum Edition เกมเวอร์ชันดังกล่าว เป็นแพ็คที่มัดรวมเกม Dying Light เข้ากับ DLC ใหญ่ 4 ตัว และ Bundle สกินย่อย ๆ อีก 17 ตัวเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน
เกมส์ Dying Light ให้ผู้เล่นผจญภัยในเมืองร้างที่ล่มสลาย เต็มไปด้วยเหล่าประชากรซอมบี้มากมาย ผู้เล่นจะต้องหาทางเอาตัวรอด ประชังชีวิต และป้องกันอัตราการแพร่กระจายไวร้สซอมบี้ด้วย ระหว่างการเล่น ผู้เล่นจะต้องคอยหาอาหารเพื่อประทังชีวิตในแต่ละวัน หาวัสดุสิ่งของเพื่อผลิตเป็นอาวุธเพื่อรับมือกับซอมบี้
เกมส์ Dying Light นี้จะมีช่วงเวลากลางวัน/กลางคืน โดยช่วงเวลาค่ำเป็นต้นไป ผู้เล่นจะกลายเป็นผู้ถูกล่า เนื่องจากซอมบี้มีความสามารถที่เหนือชั้นกว่า เกรี้ยวกราดกว่า และพร้อมจู่โจมเหล่าผู้รอดชีวิตทุกเมื่อ อย่างไรก็ดีที่ช่วงตั้งเวลาเช้าเป็นต้นไป
ด้านตัวละครของผู้เล่นในเกมส์ Dying Light มีส่วนผสมของ Free-Running ที่สามารถลอดปีนป่ายตามอาคารหรือผ่านสิ่งกีดขวางได้โดยง่าย มีการพัฒนาเรื่องสกิลตัวละครและสะสมค่าประสบการณ์ภายในเกมส์ ที่น่าสนใจคือ นอกจากจะมีโหมดผู้เล่นคนเดียวที่เล่้นตามเนื้อเรื่องแล้ว ยังมีโหมดมัลติเพลเยอร์ที่ต้องเอาตัวรอดกับซอมบี้ที่สวมบทบาทเป็นผู้เล่นเพื่อไล่สังหารผู้รอดชีวิตด้วย
สำหรับกราฟิกภายเกมส์ จัดทำให้ดูมีความเสมือนจริงมากขึ้น เพิ่มเอฟเฟคแสง-เงา อย่างเสมือนจริง มีการจัดวางจำนวนซอมบี้ภายในฉากให้อยู่ในระดับที่เหมาะสม เพื่อให้ผู้เล่นเกิดอาการเสียวสันหลัง ขณะหลบหลีก รวมถึมวางอินเตอร์เฟสเกมส์ไว้น้อยที่สุดเพื่อแสดงภาพเกมส์อย่างจริงจัง
