เกม Hollow Knight เป็นเกมอินดี้แนว Action Adventure ในรูปแบบ 2D โดยเราจะได้รับบทเป็น Hollow Knight ผู้ลึกลับซึ่งผจญภัยอยู่ใน Hallownest แสนกว้างขวางและมีอาณาจักรแมลงโบราณอยู่ใต้ดิน Hollow Knight จะได้เผชิญกับศัตรูมากมาย บอสที่ปกครองพื้นที่ เพื่อนและพลังใหม่ๆ กับความลับต่างๆ ของอาณาจักร Dirtmouth

สามารถพัฒนาสกิลและความสามารถใหม่ๆ ทั้งการร่ายคาถาโจมตี เพิ่มความแข็งแกร่ง เพิ่มความเร็ว กระโดดสูง พุ่งด้วยความเร็ว หรือระเบิดเหล่าศัตรูทิ้ง
มีวัตถุโบราณที่ทำให้เรามีสกิลและความสามารถใหม่โดยเราสามารถเลือกใช้ได้ (เข้าใจว่าเป็นสกิลคนละแบบกันที่เราสามารถพัฒนาเองได้)
ตัวละครมากมายที่มีทั้งความน่ารักและความน่าขนลุก ในรูปแบบ 2D Animation ในจำนวนนี้มีเหล่าศัตรูกว่า 130 แบบและบอสอีก 30 ตัว (น่าจะยังไม่นับบอสที่เพิ่มเข้ามาภายหลัง)
