Doom Eternal เป็นเกมแนว First-person shooter ที่จะดูแลการจำหน่ายโดยบริษัท Bethesda Softworks และพัฒนาขึ้นเจ้าของดั้งเดิม id Software ซึ่งผู้พัฒนาอย่างคุณ Marty Stratton หัวเรือใหญ่ที่เป็นคนกำกับการสร้างได้เคยเปิดเผยข้อมูลไว้ว่าทีมงานได้ทุ่มเทการพัฒนาเกม Doom Eternal เป็นอย่างมากในทุกๆ องค์ประกอบของเกมไม่ว่าจะเป็น งานภาพกราฟิก ระบบเสียง เกมเพลย์ เนื้อเรื่อง และอื่นๆ ทุกอย่างทำออกมาให้ดีที่สุดเพื่อกลายเป็นเกมที่หลายๆ คนคาดหวังไว้
โดยเฉพาะเนื้อเรื่อง Story Mode ที่ทาง id Software บอกเอาไว้ว่าจะมีความยาวและเนื้อหามากกว่าภาคก่อนๆ ถึงสองเท่าเพื่อให้ผู้เล่นได้เสพความสนุกของเกมที่รอคอยมาหลายปีได้อย่างเต็มที่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นแผนที่ขนาดใหญ่ จำนวนมอนสเตอร์ที่เจอก็จะมีเยอะขึ้นงานนี้ดุเดือดยิงแหลกแจกกระสุนมันส์อย่างแน่นอน
นอกจากนั้นในเกมก็ยังมีโหมดการเล่นอื่นๆ แล้วที่น่าสนใจเป็นพิเศษก็คือ Battle Mode ที่จะเป็นการเล่นแบบ 2VS1 ผู้เล่นจะแบ่งออกเป็นฝ่าย Doom Slayer 1 คนและ มอนสเตอร์อีก 2 คน ผู้เล่นฝั่งมอนสเตอร์จะได้เลือกอสูรประเภทต่างๆ ไว้ต่อสู้กับ Doom Slayer ในรูปแบบ Multiplayer
สำหรับ DOOM Eternal ภาคนี่ก็ถือว่าเป็นภาคที่ 5 ของเกมแล้วโดยตำนานเริ่มขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี 1993 ที่ได้มีการปล่อยตัวเกมภาคแรกออกมาในชื่อเรียกง่ายๆ ว่า DOOM โดยผู้กำกับการสร้างและเขียนบทคนแรกก็คือ Tom Hall แล้วก็ผ่านมาหนึ่งปี ก็ปล่อยภาคต่อ Doom II: Hell on Earth ในปี 1994 ทันทีรวมไปถึงภาคเสริมหรือเรียกว่า DLC ก็ได้อีกจำนวนหนึ่ง จุดเด่นของเกมซีรีส์ DOOM ก็คือความดิบความเถื่อนการต่อสู้แบบ FPS ที่ยิงแหลกมีความ Action ผสมกับจังหวะดนตรีที่ชวนตื่นเต้น และภาคใหม่ล่าสุดนี้ผู้พัฒนาบอกเองเลยว่าจะเป็นภาคที่ดีที่สุดของซีรีส์ DOOM ใครเป็นแฟนก็ห้ามพลาด
