While Windows 10 and 11 come with an embedded backup solution, this uploads the backup to the cloud, without offering the possibility to save the backup locally. Having that in mind, the developer of Appcopier created an open-source alternative that can securely save Windows settings and apps offline.

The main window is stripped of complicated settings and menus. With everything in plain sight, Appcopier allows you to choose the settings to backup from a simple tree-like list, while providing explanations for every item you tick as checked.
Backup Windows settings and preferences
Appcopier can backup your Windows configuration offline, starting with the personalization settings (themes, default app mode, color prevalence, transparency, and so on) and taskbar settings (alignment, size, layout, widgets etc).
Privacy settings can be exported as well, making it easier for you to configure a new copy of Windows when it comes to personalized tips, ads and recommendations. Apps privacy settings can be saved as well.
Appcopier can also export Windows 11 telemetry settings, wallpapers and update settings, so that you can apply them to the new Windows instance much easier. If 7-Zip or Notepad++ are installed on your system, then Appcopier can backup those as well.
A new folder is created for each day you create a backup with Appcopier, a directory that is populated with registry entries.
