ค่ายเกม Zenimax เปิดตัวเกมใหม่ในชื่อ The Elder Scrolls Online เป็นที่เรียบร้อยโรงเรียนสกายริม หลังจากที่มีข่าวลือหลุดออกมาให้ได้ยินอยู่เนืองๆ ในที่สุดเกมนี้ก็ได้รับการเผยตัวอย่างเป็นทางการเสียที
เกม MMO เกมใหม่นี้พัฒนาโดย Zenimax Online Studios ซึ่งเป็นสตูดิโอที่สร้างขึ้นเพื่อทำเกม MMO โดยเฉพาะ ก่อตั้งโดยบริษัทแม่ของ Bethesda Softworks ผู้สร้าง The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim อันโด่งดังนั่นเอง

ใน The Elder Scrolls Online ผู้เล่นจะได้เดินทางไปในอาณาจักร Tamriel อันยิ่งใหญ่ ไล่ตั้งแต่แผ่นดิน Elsweyr แห่งเหล่าเอลฟ์ไปจนถึง Skyrim ของเหล่านอร์ด โดยเนื้อเรื่องจะเริ่มขึ้นหนึ่งพันปีก่อนเหตุการณ์ใน Skyrim เมื่อจอมปีศาจ Molag Bal บุกเข้ามาในดินแดนมนุษย์หวังจะครอบครองทุกสิ่งบนโลกใบนี้
