Tales of Berseria เป็นเกม Action-RPG ในลำดับที่ 14 ของซีรี่ย์ Tales ประจำปี 2016 ภาคนี้เป็นเนื้อหาก่อนภาค Tales of Zestiria ที่วางจำหน่ายไปเมื่อปี 2015 ออกแบบตัวละครโดยสองนักออกแบบประจำซี่รี่ย์อย่าง อ. Mutsumi Inomata และ อ. Kōsuke Fujishima (ผู้วาด Oh My Goddess ) ร่วมกับอีกสองท่านคือ Minoru Iwamoto และ Daigo Okumura

เรื่องราวในเกมภาคนี้เป็นจุดกำเนิดของเรื่องราวในภาค Tales of Zestiria เป็นเวลามากกว่า 1000 ปี ซึ่งเกิดในทวีปเวตส์แลนด์ (Wasteland) อันเป็นดินแดนที่กว้างใหญ่ไพศาลทางตอนกลางของโลก(และภายหลังจะรู้จักกันในชื่อว่า “กลีนวูด” (Glenwood) ในภาค Tales of Zestiria ) อาณาจักรศักดิ์สิทธิ์มิดการ์ด (Midgand Sacred Kingdom) เป็นอาณาจักรที่ปกครองทวีปทางเหนือ ศูนย์รวมอำนาจเหนือดินแดนและหมู่เกาะทั้งมหาสมุทร เป็นอาณาจักรที่มีการพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีทางการเดินเรือข้ามมหาสมุทร แต่ด้วยการแข่งขันทางการค้าระหว่างหมู่เกาะที่มั่งคั่ง เส้นทางการเดินเรือสินค้า

ทุกๆ อย่างที่เกิดขึ้นในภาคนี้ เพราะที่มนุษย์พยายามดึงเอา “พระเจ้า” ลงมาครอบครอง นั่นจึงทำให้โลกใบนี้เกิดเสียสมดุลไป…
