The release of HEEDS 2019.2 is full of new features and upgrades to accelerate your engineering design processes.

With the addition of two new portals, HEEDS now supports more than 40 portals. We are committed to enhancing the automation capabilities of HEEDS through investments in new portals as well as updates to the existing portals. We believe these updates are key to allowour users to easily create complex multi-disciplinary workflows in HEEDS.

Our product priority is to ensure that HEEDS can be easily and productively used by non-experts. The success our users have had in optimization with SHERPA is a testament to this approach. With this release, we are starting the journey of bringing the same approach to surrogate modeling with the release of Adaptive Sampling.

HEEDS 2019.2 offers several other new features and updates that continue to streamline design space exploration through improved exploration, results processing, and automated analysis tools. SWith Design Space Exploration at the forefront of an organization's innovative drive, entire product lines can see a transformative and dramatic change in performance. All enhancements and updates of HEEDS 2019.2 increase usability, connectivity and productivity to put all users more in control of the design process and of the analysis of results.

HEEDS 2019.2 now supports a new Python API to boost productivity. Scripts can be recorded from the user interface and replayed for repetitive tasks. Accompanying this feature is a fully documented API manual. This is a first release with planned enhancements in subsequent releases.
Users can now access the latest Python capabilities! Support for Python has been extended to include Python 3.6 along with Python 2.7. As of this release, users will be able to choose which version of Python to use for their expressions, analyses and portals.
A new view has been created to graphically cross-check the process setup. With this new feature, users can easily interrogate details of a complex workflow and quickly validate data flow, shared parameters, and dependencies. The new view supports multi-select to visualize entities (like parameters, files, etc.) shared among selected analyses.
Adaptive Sampling uses multiple strategies with the aim of improving surrogate fits for a chosen response to gain more insight. When a limited number of designs are available, Adaptive Sampling can generate a better surrogate model when compared to traditional space-filling designapproaches.
New portals have been added to HEEDS 2019.2 to easily interface with your existing investment in simulation. Automatically connect to Aspen HYSYS and Autodesk Inventor without the need for custom scripting or manual manipulation.
HEEDS further leverages existing hardware investments with a new client server-based model offers a more robust and efficient solution that uses fewer resources. This new simpler solution requires no utility file transfers.

HEEDS MDO is a robust multidisciplinary design optimization softwarepackage that automates the search for better solutions within a given design space and dramatically reduces design time.

HEEDS MDO enables you to quickly find designs that perform extremely well according to multiple criteria, while simultaneously satisfying multiple constraints and using a large number of variables. In an overnight run, HEEDS can produce results that would take weeks to accomplish manually.With HEEDS MDO, you have access toall of the following design exploration and optimization capabilities:

- Identifying optimal solutions within a given design space using advanced mathematical search algorithms and strategies.
- Performing multiple-objective, Pareto-optimization studies to generate a Pareto set of optimal designs which let you perform trade-off studies between conflicting objectives.Performingdesign of experiments (DOE) studies to examine how selected variables affect a design.
- Testing designs forrobustness and reliability to determine how sensitive a design is to expected variations in designated project variables.
- Executingand post-processing designs that you specify.

Depending on your project requirements, you may use HEEDS MDOto perform any of the above functions. On a given project, you might use more than one, selecting the one that is most appropriate for each stage of your project's development. For example, you might set up a parameter optimization study and search for an optimized design that meets all of your objectives and constraints. After that, you might take your best design(s) and use a DOE study to identify critical tolerances based on the sensitivity of the design to certain variables. Individual designs couldbe studied further by testing their robustness and reliabilityin yet another study in the project.

Although the technology behind HEEDS MDO and its powerful search engine is complex, the software itself is user-friendly and easy to use. You do not need to be an expert in optimization theory in order to use it effectively. Simply create your design model with the analysis software you normally use. Then, set up your design studyin HEEDS MDO. When your studyruns, HEEDS MDOautomates and accelerates the natural design iteration process, using the same analysis tool(s) you used to create your design
