ระบบการเล่นของ Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ก็จะเน้นไปที่การสู้รบแบบเป็นทีมเช่นเดียวกับภาคแรก ซึ่งนอกจากจะให้ยิงกันแล้ว ยังเน้นแอคชั่นและลูกเล่นต่างๆมากมาย อย่างเช่นฉากที่สามารถยิงพังได้ ยานพาหนะที่มีให้ใช้หลายแบบ และอาวุธใหม่ๆที่มีอาณุภาพรุนแรงเพียบ โดยสโลแกนของเกมส์นี้กล่าวว่า No where! you can hide. หมายถึงระบบฉากพังได้ของเกมนี้ทำให้ผู้เล่นไม่มีที่ซ ่อนตัวได้เสมอไป และใน Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ยังมีฉากรูปแบบใหม่ๆเพิ่มเข้ามาด้วยเช่น snowy mountaintops ภูเขาหิมะ - dense jungles ป่าทึบ และ dusty villages หมู่บ้านรกร้าง
