อันนี้คือภาคต่อของที่ผมเขียนไว้ครั้งที่แล้วนะครับ รูปแบบจะเป็นเหมือนเดิมเลย คือเป็นภาษาอังกฤษกับไทย 2 เวอร์ชั่น โดยจะลงแบบอังกฤษก่อน แล้วแปลตามทีหลังครับ
สำหรับคนที่ยังไม่เคยอ่าน เรื่องนี้จะเกี่ยวกับเด็กหนุ่มคนหนึ่งชื่อ แกเร็ต โลเวลล์ (Garret Lowell)ที่ถูกรถชนจนบาดเจ็บและได้ไปรักษาตัวที่สถาณพยาบาลแห่งหนึ่งแถวๆชานเมือง อยู่มาวันนึง ที่แห่งนั้นก็ถูกเผาทำลายลงอย่างฉับพลัน และเขาก็เสียทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่เขารักไปในพริบตา ทั้งเพื่อนๆ ทั้งบ้าน และพ่อแท้ๆของเขาก็ตายกันหมดในวันนั้น แกเร็ตหนีออกมาได้อย่างเฉียดฉิวและสลบไปกลางทุ่งหญ้าที่อยู่ไม่ไกลสถาณพยาบาลนัก แกเร็ตได้รับการช่วยเหลือโดยชายที่ชื่อว่าซาลาซาร์ (Salazar) เขาพาแกเร็ตไปที่หมู่บ้านที่ซ่อนอยู่ในป่าเพื่อพักฟื้น แล้วก็ได้รับแกเร็ตมาเลี้ยงดูจนโตขึ้น แกเร็ตใช้เวลาอยู่กับคนในหมู่บ้านเป็นเวลาหลายปี และทุกอย่างดูเหมือนจะจบลงด้วยดี จนกระทั่งเขาได้ค้นพบพลังประหลาดที่อยู่ในตัวเขาตอนที่กำลังปกป้องวาลอร่า (Valora) เพื่อนสาวของเขาจากการโจมตีของหมีป่า โดยเขาได้ปล่อยคลื่นไฟฟ้าแรงสูงออกมาจากมือเปล่าของเขาเอง
แกเร็ตได้รับรู้ภายหลังว่าเขาเป็นหนึ่งในหนูทดลอง (Test Subjects) ขององค์กรแห่งการหยั่งรู้ (The Enlightenment Project) เหมือนกับคนส่วนใหญ่ในหมู่บ้านที่เกี่ยวข้องกับองค์กรนั้นไม่ทางใดก็ทางหนึ่ง หลังจากได้รับรู้ความจริงแล้ว แกเร็ตก็ได้ใช้พลังเพื่อช่วยเหลือคนในหมู่บ้านหลายครั้ง จนกระทั่งร่างกายของเขาเริ่มมีปฆิกิริยาแซกซ้อน (Rejection) จากการใช้พลังมากเกินไป ในตอนนั้นเอง ซาลาซาร์กับวาลอองเขา ซึ่งคือยาพิษมรณะ (Mordevenom) เป็นสิ่งเดียวกับที่ให้พลังงานกับหมู่บ้านมาโดยตลอด แกเร็ตไม่มีทางเลือกอื่นนอกจากฉีดยาพิษเข้าไปในร่างกายโดยตรงเพื่อจะมีชีวิตต่อไป แต่เหตุการณ์ขับขันก็เกิดขึ้น พวกทหารขององค์กรร้ายได้พบที่อยู่ของหมู่บ้านและได้บุกโจมตีอย่างโหดร้าย แกเร็ตจึงรับเอายาพิษทั้งหมดเข้าไปในตัวและออกไปช่วยปกป้องหมู่บ้านใด้สำเร็จ หลังจากนั้นแกเร็ตก็ได้ตัดสินใจที่จะใช้พลังของเขาเพื่อต่อสู้กับพวกคนที่มาทำร้ายคนสำคัญของเขาอย่างสุดความสามารถ เรื่องของกระทู้นี้จะเป็นหลังจากที่แกเร็ตได้ปกป้องหมู่บ้านใด้สำเร็จ และกำลังวางแผนต่อไปครับ

Aftermath Salazar ran toward Garret and Val, he was surprised to see him in perfect condition. "Garret!! Val!! are you alright?" "Yeah we're fine, how about you? I heard they hit us hard." "Nah, nothing I can't handle. We didn't suffer any serious casualty since they were going after the facility and the children, not us directly. However, they got to the village......I don't think this cover is going to work anymore." "I see....." Garret looked at his hands, he was startled at the sight of a black liquid flowing from his hands up to his shoulder and yelled. "What the hell is this shit!! Salazar, do you know anything about the venom eating up my arm!!?" Salazar took a closer look at the black liquid covering Garret's shoulder, Garret saw a glimpse of Salazar's surprised face but that reaction was swiftly wiped away. “It is .a power conduit. A rare side effect you get from Mordevenom. It would only appear if a test subject with high resilience took way too much dose of it, some part of their body will grow dark, it's like a double-edged sword, its appearance is the indicator that the venom has already became part of your body and you wouldn't need any stabilizer shots from now on. You're like a Beastmen with an Elementlist's powers. But the bad thing is, the venom will try to take over you, and if it does, you will not be able to control yourself, and you can’t get rid of it .think of it like an over clocking device. "Oh....that's good....well, as long as I'm careful it won't eat me right?" "Right." "Huh, thanks for telling me, but what are we going to do next? You said they found out about our village right?" “Well, we'll have to move, those E.P. goons will surely come back. We have to get the villagers outta here.” “Where are we going then?” " I'm not sure.....I've never thought this day would come. At least not so soon. There's other outpost just like this one with my fellow test subjects out there but we kept out of contact to keep a low profile." "What about Siberia? I heard their camp is still online and no one has managed to find Yuki-chan yet, we could take off right now since there's no need to contain the venom anymore, right?" Val spoke up with excitement, but Salazar didn't share the same enthusiasm, he looked up at the sky and pointed upward. "Do you see that thing up there Val? Those bastards have eyes on the sky, we’d be spotted in seconds if we move out, what we need right now is something to destroy that satellite before they can spot us......and we need to know when these agents will come back. But sadly, the only place that we can find all the intel we need would be......in one of their facility." Garret realized that the villagers have no chance whatsoever against the superior firepower of the E.P. soldier. If he doesn’t do anything with their eyes, there’s no chance for his friends and family to survive. He looked toward the far horizon where his old home stands, and made a quick decision. “I’ll go to the facility and see if there’s anything I could dig up. Maybe I can get the info we need and maybe I could get to the bottom of this Enlightenment Project conspiracy.” "Are you sure, garret? I mean it's not a place I think you would want to set foot in again after all the things that happened." "It's fine Salazar, I'm....done with mourning. And right now it's the only place around here that we can get the info we need. I'll be going now, let's hope I can find something useful over there." “Be careful, you never know what may still be in there. Do not underestimate those bastards.” Garret was about to leave when Val ran up to him and tug his shirt, she looked right into his eyes and took a deep breath. “I’ll go with you Garret, I know the codes to that place, and someone has to keep an eye on you in case you can't handle the pressure.” "Uh....what? wait, what codes are you talking about?" "The door code, if I remember correctly, all the facility has a sealed entranced that could only be opened by putting in a set of specific codes in, I got one from one of the dead agents over there." "You can just give me the code...right?" "No, it's still not safe. you never know what those eggheads may have in store for trespassers, and you can't underestimate their security systems, either way, I'm going with you." "Are you sure? it's quite a long way from here and your legs are still battered....." "Oh just shut it, if I can't walk then you'll just have to carry me with you." Garret was startled, he looked at Val pouting at him like a child and let out a laugh. “You just can’t let me go, can you? Careful Val, I may start to like you someday” Val’s face blushed with red, but she quickly wiped the reaction away. Garret was about to make another joke but when she saw her reaction, he couldn't help getting a red face too. Val looked away and started walking toward the facility on the far horizon. “Let’s just go .idiot.” Val mumbled and kept on walking Val and Garret left the village and head toward the old E.P. facility. The place where Garret came from .his home. He can see it on the far horizon, across the grass field and pine forest. His eyes are now set to the place, but in time, he will discover that the truth about his life is even more disturbing than he could ever imagine . ภาษาไทย เส้นทางสู่อนาคต ซาลาซาร์วิ่งเข้าหาแกเร็ตและวาล แต่เขาก็ต้องฉงนเมื่อพบเด็กทั้งสองคนปลอดภัย ไร้รอยขีดข่วน “แกเร็ต!! วาล!! พวกเธอไม่เป็นไรใช่ไหม?” “พวกเราไม่เป็นไรมากหรอกน่า ว่าแต่ลุงน่ะแหละ ได้ข่าวมาว่าพวกมันกระหน่ำใส่พวกเราแบบไม่ยั้งเลยไม่ใช่รึไง” แกเร็ตถามซาลาซาร์ด้วยอารมณ์ขัน แต่ในใจของเขาก็โล่งใจที่ซาลาซาร์กับคนอื่นๆปลอดภัย “ ไม่มีอะไรที่ฉันรับมือไม่ได้หรอก พวกเราไม่ได้สูญเสียกำลังพลสำคัญไปมาก เพราะพวกมันพยายามไล่ล่าพวกเด็กๆ ซะส่วนใหญ่ ไม่ใช่พวกเรา แต่พวกมันก็ทำลายส่วนใหญ่ของหมู่บ้านไปได้แล้วเหมือนกัน..... ฉันก็ไม่คิดว่าเกราะอำพรางนี่จะยังหลอกพวกมันได้อีกแล้วล่ะนะ” “นั่นสินะ.....” แกเร็ตก้มลงมองมือทั้งสองข้างของเขา แต่ก็ต้องร้องด้วยความตกใจ เมื่อเขาพบของเหลวสีดำกำลังไหลผ่านมือทั้งสองข้างไปยังไหล่ของเขา “นี่มันอะไรวะเนี่ย!!เฮ้ยซาลาซาร์ นายพอจะรู้อะไรเกี่ยวกับไอ้พิษที่กำลังแดกแขนของชั้นอยู่รึเปล่าเนี่ย!!?” ซาลาซาร์ก้มลงพิจารณาของเหลวสีดำบนแขนของแกเร็ต เด็กหนุ่มแอบมองเห็นใบหน้าของซาลาซาร์ฉายแววตกตะลึงอยู่ครู่หนึ่ง ก่อนที่มันจะหายไปจากใบหน้าของเขาเหมือนไม่มีอะไรเกิดขึ้น “มันก็.... เหมือนกับตัวบ่งบอกระดับพลังของนายอ่ะนะ ไอ้อาการแบบนี้มันเป็นผลกระทบอย่างหนึ่งที่ได้จากยาพิษมรณะ ปริกิริยานี้จะเกิดขึ้นก็ต่อเมื่อตัวทดลองมีความยืดหยุ่นมากพอที่รับสารพิษเข้าไปเป็นจำนวนมหาศาลในครั้งเดียว มันจะทำให้ผิวบางส่วนของร่างกายเปลี่ยนเป็นสีดำ มันก็เหมือนดาบสองคมนั่นแหล่ะ แต่การที่ผิวของเธอเปลี่ยนสีแบบนี้ก็แปลว่า สารพิษได้สมานตัวกลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของร่างกายเธอแล้ว และจากนี้ไปเธอก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องฉีดยารักษาความเสถียรภาพอีกแล้ว ตอนนี้เธอได้กลายเป็นพวกมนุษย์อสูรที่มีพลังของนักแปรธาตุ แต่สารพิษก็ค่อยๆ กลืนกินตัวตนของเธอไปเรื่อยๆ เธอจะไม่สามารถเอามันออกไปจากตัวเธอได้ จนสุดท้ายแล้วเธอจะไม่สามารถควบคุมตัวเอง และสูญเสียตัวตนที่แท้จริงของเธอไป คิดซะว่าเหมือนตัวเพิ่มพลังงานแห่งตวามชั่วร้าย คล้ายในการ์ตูนญี่ปุ่นที่อ่านๆกันไปละกันนะ” “เพิ่มพลังงั้นหรอ...... เอ่อ ตราบใดที่ใช้มันอย่างรอบคอบ มันก็จะไม่กลืนกินตัวชั้นไปใช่มะ?” “อ่าหะ” “เฮ้อ....ขอบใจที่บอกนะซาลาซาร์ แต่ตอนนี้เราควรจะทำอะไรต่อดีล่ะ นายว่าพวกมันเจอหมู่บ้านของเราแล้วใช่ไหม?” “ก็นะ พวกเราจะต้องหาที่อยู่ใหม่ พวกหน่วยกวาดล้างนั่นจะต้องกลับมาแน่ๆ แต่ตอนนี้พวกเราต้องอพยพชาวบ้านออกจากที่นี่ก่อน” “เราจะไปที่ไหนล่ะ?” “ฉันก็ไม่แน่ใจหรอก..... ไม่เคยคิดน่ะว่าวันนี้จะมาถึง อย่างน้อยก็ไม่ได้มาถึงเร็วขนาดนี้ แต่พวกเรายังมีที่หลบซ่อนอื่น ที่มีเพื่อนชาวหนูทดลองของฉันหลบซ่อนอยู่เหมือนกับที่นี่ แต่พวกเราตัดขาดการสื่อสารกันเพื่อให้พวกมันหาตัวพวกเราได้ยากขึ้น" “แล้วที่ไซบีเรียล่ะ ฉันได้ข่าวว่าค่ายของพวกเขายังคงทำงานอยู่ แล้วก็ยังไม่มีใครที่สามารถหาตัวยูกิจังเจอด้วย พวกเราจะย้ายไปเลยก็ได้นี่ ไหนๆ ก็ไม่ต้องคอยกักกันสารพิษมรณะนั่นแล้ว จริงไหม?” วาลแทรกเข้ามาในบทสนทนาด้วยความตื่นเต้น แต่ซาลาซาร์กลับไม่ได้เห็นด้วยกับไอเดียของเธอ เขาแหงนหน้าแล้วชี้ขึ้นไปยังท้องฟ้า “เธอเห็นนั่นไหมวาล? พวกบ้านั่นมันมีตาอยู่บนท้องฟ้า พวกเราจะต้องถูกจับได้ทันทีที่ย่างเท้าออกจากที่นี่ สิ่งที่เราต้องทำตอนนี้คือทำลายดาวเทียมนั่นก่อนที่พวกมันจะหาเราเจอ..... แล้วเราก็ต้องหาข้อมูลด้วยว่าไอ้เจ้าหน้าที่พวกนั้นจะกลับมาเมื่อไหร่ น่าเสียดายจริงๆ ที่สถานที่เดียวที่เราจะหาข้อมูลของพวกมันได้มากที่สุด.... คือข้างในตึกทำการของพวกมัน” แกเร็ตเพิ่งประจักในตอนนั้นเอง ว่าชาวบ้านเหล่านี้ไม่มีทางต่อสู้กับพลังไฟของพวกหน่วยกวาดล้างพิเศษได้ ถ้าเขาไม่ทำอะไรสักอย่างกับหูตาที่คอยมองอยู่ของพวกเจ้าหน้าที่แล้วล่ะก็ เพื่อนและครอบครัวของเขาก็ไม่มีโอกาสรอดไปได้เลย เขาทอดมองไปยังเส้นขอบฟ้าที่อยู่ห่างไกลออกไป ที่ๆ เขาอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านหลังเก่าของเขา แล้วเขาก็ตัดสินใจอย่างรวดเร็ว “ชั้นจะไปที่ไอ้ตึกบ้านั่น แล้วขุดคุ้ยข้อมูลพวกนั้นมาเอง บางทีชั้นอาจจะเจอข้อมูลที่เรากำลังตามหาอยู่ เกี่ยวกับเบื้องหลังของไอ้โครงการบ้านี่ก็ได้” “แน่ใจเหรอแกเร็ต? คือฉันไม่คิดว่านายจะอยากเข้าไปที่นั่นอีก หลังจากทุกอย่างที่เกิดขึ้น” “ไม่เป็นไรหรอกน่าซาลาซาร์ ผม....ว่าเวลาไว้ทุกข์มันจบลงแล้ว แล้วตอนนี้มันก็เป็นที่เดียวที่เราจะสามารถหาข้อมูลที่เราต้องการด้วย ผมคงต้องขอตัวก่อน หวังว่าผมจะหาข้อมูลที่สำคัญๆ เจอนะ” “ระวังตัวด้วยนะ ไม่มีใครรู้ว่ามีอะไรที่ยังหลงเหลือรอเธออยู่ในนั้นบ้าง อย่าดูถูกความามารถของพวกโรคจิตนั่นเด็ดขาด” วาลวิ่งมาหาแกเร็ตและยื้อเสื้อของเขาเอาไว้ขณะที่เด็กหนุ่มเตรียมตัวจากไป เธอมองเข้าไปในดวงตาทั้งคู่ของแกเร็ตแล้วสูดลมหายใจเข้าจนสุดปอด “ฉันจะไปกับนาย แกเร็ต ฉันรู้รหัสที่ต้องใช้เพื่อเข้าไปในนั้น แล้วก็ต้องมีใครสักคนคอยดูแลนายเวลาที่นายใช้พลังมากเกินไปด้วย” “เอ่อ.... ห้ะ? เดี๋ยวก่อน นี่เธอกำลังพูดถึงรหัสอะไรอยู่?” “รหัสประตูไงเล่า ถ้ารหัสที่ฉันจำได้มันถูกต้องน่ะนะ ทางเข้าทั้งหมดของศูนย์ถูกลงรหัสไว้ มันจะเปิดออกก็ต่อเมื่อกรอกรหัสที่ถูกต้องลงไปเท่านั้น ฉันเพิ่งได้มันมาจากพวกเจ้าหน้าที่ที่นอนตายอยู่ตรงโน้นน่ะ” “เธอก็ให้รหัสมากับชั้นก็ได้ไม่ใช่รึไง - -' ” “ไม่ล่ะ มันยังไม่ปลอดภัย นายไม่มีทางรู้ได้ว่านักวิทยาศาสตร์พวกนั้นยังมีไม้เด็ดอะไรเก็บไว้รอผู้บุกรุกอย่างเราอยู่ นายจะประมาทไม่ได้เด็ดขาด เฉพาะฉะนั้นยังไงฉันก็จะไปกับนาย” “เธอแน่ใจเหรอ? ที่นั่นมันไกลมากนะ แล้วขาเธอก็ยังเจ็บอยู่...” “โอ้ย เงียบเหอะน่า ถ้าฉันเดินไม่ได้ นายก็แค่ต้องแบกฉันไป แค่นั้นเอง” แกเร็ตรู้สึกหวาดผวา แต่ทันทีที่เขามองวาลที่กำลังทำแก้มป่องเหมือนเด็ก เขาก็หัวเราะออกมาอีกครั้ง “นี่จะปล่อยฉันไปง่ายๆ ไม่ได้เลยใช่มะ? ระวังเถอะวาล บางทีฉันอาจจะเริ่มชอบเธอขึ้นมาสักวันก็ได้นะ” หน้าของวาลร้อนฉ่าจะเป็นสีแดง แต่อาการเขินของเธอก็หายไปอย่างรวดเร็ว ส่วน แกเร็ตที่กำลังแหย่วาลพอเห็นแบบนั้นก็เกิดอาการหน้าแดงขึ้นมาด้วยอย่างช่วยไม่ได้ วาลหันหน้าหนีแล้วเริ่มออกเดินไปทางศูนย์วิจัย “ไปกันได้แล้ว... ไอ้บ้า” วาลพึมพัมกับตัวเองขณะที่ยังคงต่อไปอย่างไม่ยั้ง วาลและแกเร็ตทิ้งหมู่บ้านไว้ด้านหลังและมุ่งหน้าไปยังศูนย์วิจัยเก่า บ้านหลังเก่าที่แกเร็ตจากมา เขาสามารถมองเห็นมันบนเส้นของฟ้า ข้ามทุ่งหญ้าและป่าสนไปเท่านั้น ดวงตาทั้งสองของเขาจดจ้องไปยังสถานที่นั้น แต่อีกไม่นานเข้าก็จะค้นพบความจริงเกี่ยวกับชีวิตของเขา ความจริงที่น่ากลัวมากกว่าที่เขาคิดเอาไว้อย่างคาดไม่ถึง........

Home is where the heart is Garret and Valora left the village with a few rations and bandages, that was all the villagers could find amidst the wreckage of their village. They head toward the facility where Garret came from. It was getting dark, but they kept on moving through the pine forest and just as the moon touches the sky once more, they reached the plain field. Garret suddenly stopped ..he remembered the place; it was here where Salazar found him and took him to the village. “ Garret? Are you ok?” “I’m fine; it’s just the side effect from the venom I guess, nothing serious.” “I’m not stupid, you were fine after we patched you up, so the venom has nothing to do with this” “Yeah I just feel a little bit nostalgic. This is where Salazar found me and took me in. I was like 9 years old. I was bloodied, abandoned afraid. I thought I was a dead man, I thought I’d never get a chance to know who destroyed my home ..but then he took me in, nursed me back to health you know the rest.” “I met him the same way, Ringo and I was test subjects like you, then Salazar and the other villagers came and freed us all. I was skeptical, but he has a knack for making people trust in him ..and, well .thanks to him, I get to meet you.” “Val ...” Before he could say anything else, Valora spotted an approaching chopper and dragged Garret to find cover. The chopper passed over their head and onto the pine forest behind them. It was patrolling the area. It starts to rain, and Garret got another crazy idea in his mind. “Let’s go, we could avoid it if we stick to the shadows. Garret? Where are you going?” “I’m going to take that chopper down, watch my back.” Garret climbed up the nearest tree with his lead pipe, modified into a lightning rod. He used his power to gather the lightning from the sky into the spear. He aim at the chopper, waited until it passed right over his head, and hurled his spear at it. His electric spear landed right at the main rotor, short circuiting the whole thing and caused it to crash land. “Come on Val, we have to get information from those pilots.” “Y yeah, I’m on my way.” They got to the crash site; the rain has extinguished the fire from the crash. Val can’t see anything through the chopper, but she can feel that there’s someone .something alive in there. Garret heard noises coming from the chopper and walk slowly toward it. As he approaches the cockpit, a sudden image runs into his head. It is his father, running away from someone in a burning facility, with him in his hands. Then his father got shot in the back. Garret finally snaps from the trance when Val touches his shoulder. “Garret? Are you all right? You look bad, like you’ve seen ghosts.” “I .I don’t know, I was lost in thoughts I think. I saw what happened a long time ago .back at the facility. When my father .died.” “Hey keep it together. I’m right here; everything’s going to be alright. We’ll get to the bottom of all this.” “Yeah .thanks.” Suddenly, a loud scream came from the wreckage, followed by the sound of gunfire and more screams. Garret and Val were startled, they kept their carved spear at the ready and slowly walks toward the wreckage as soon as the screaming stops. They opened the door and see a girl holding a gun their way. She looks bloodied, and around her are two E.P. agents lying in a pool of blood. The girl tried to pull the trigger at Garret, but the safety is still on. “Hey calm down!!! Look, put the gun away, before anyone gets hurt.” “No .I won’t, I will not go back there. Never again!!!” The girl was desperately trying to shoot him, Garret was about to disarm her, but Valora intervened. She comforts the girl and took the gun out of her hands. “Hey, hey it’s alright. We’re not going to take you back anywhere. We are here to help you” The girl calmed down, she fainted shortly afterward. It was clear that she was kidnapped and experimented on. Valora carried her out of the wreckage while Garret tries to find any evidence, anything at all that could identify the little girl. After a thorough search, he found nothing but a memory card on the corpse of an E.P. agent. It was tattered but the name on it is still clear. “Val, do you know who is this Zachery Carter?” “No, but maybe Salazar could tell you who that guy is. If we go back to camp.” “Alright, never mind, you just take the girl back to camp and let her rest. I’ll go on to the facility then you can follow me later. Oh, and give me the key.” “Garret .I” “Hey, no worries, I’m the invincible lighting master remember?” “ ..Alright, here it is. Just put it in at the front gate and it'll open, I think, but we need some form of communication until I can resume the mission.” “Here, I found 2 shortwave radio, they’re still intact but covered in those agent’s blood” “Ewww .well, at least it still works.” “Go on Val, keep her safe, tell Salazar about this Carter guy ..I thought I heard his name once but I can’t really remember. Maybe he has something to do with the facility.” Valora decided to take the girl back to camp as Garret suggested, she took a shortwave radio from him for communication purposes. Garret continued his journey on foot until finally, he arrived at the facility. He was surprised to see it mostly intact, as if the fire didn’t finish the job ..or it was stopped. Garret notices several footprints, fresh ones leading into the facility. Garret found a small key slot and inserted his key. The door opened and he walked inside. It was dark, and creepy, just like the day he escaped, only that the facility is not burning down on him, and there were no dead bodies all over the place. He still remembered the interiors and paths, his target lies at the control room, past what used to be the living quarters. Garret got a call from Valora, who has arrived at the camp with the girl. “Hey, Val here. I got back to the camp with the little girl and now I’m on my way back. Are you alright over there?” “Yeah I’m fine; I got into the facility and now I’m heading toward the control center. I hope it won’t be burned down as bad as other parts. There’s another thing ..there may be someone else inside, probably more E.P. agents. I could handle them myself, but they could be preparing for another invasion. Tell Salazar to prepare for evacuation, just in case.” “Be careful Garret. We need everyone to stick together .I need you alive. Promise me you’ll be careful.” “Hey, I survived this place years ago and I survived the venom, don’t worry about me. Just get back here as fast as you can, the door's open” Garret walked across the barely noticeable living quarter, he remembered playing here as a child with his friends, running around like it's a playground, then he came to a realization that it isn't there anymore....it was destroyed by those murderers. He continued through the path until he walked upon his old room, he stopped right in front of it. Garret started to remember the gruesome scenery from that night again, but he shook the fear off and opened the door. He had expected to find a burned down room with charred corpses, but there was nothing of sort inside, as if someone cleaned it up after he escaped. And surprisingly, the room was untouched by the fire unlike most of the facility. Garret walked around the room, he still remembered when his father used to tell him stories before bedtime and how his mother would bring Ellie for a visit from time to time. He sits on his old bed; it could hardly support his weight and creaked. Garret got up on his feet, take one last look at his room and continue his journey. As he walked on and on toward the command center at the innermost sector, he feels something swelling inside his heart. It wasn't the nostalgia he felt, nor the heartwarming feeling he usually felt, it was something else.....it was anger. He started to feel the same malice he felt when he think of those murderers, he wanted to make them pay, he wanted to tear them apart. But as Garret finally arrived at the command center, he shook those feeling away. The command center is mostly intact but some of the computers were destroyed during the fire. He called Salazar for advice; “Hey Salazar, I’m at the uh command center, do you have any clue where the main data core would be? All I can see here is burned down computers.” “Check the centre of the room, there should be a slot for keycard, the key is with Val, she’s on her way to you right now. Try to plug in some power first, the computer won't work without some measure of electricity.” “Alright, got it. Wait .how the hell did you know all this?” “ .I'll tell you later, but it'd be better if you see it firsthand. Valora is on her way back with another key, it'll allow you access to the database. When she got there, insert the key into the slot and type in Project Overlord, you'll know the rest.” Garret was puzzled, why wouldn’t Salazar tell him what’s really going on? How come he know so much about the facility? He decided that wondering about it would be of no help, and decided to scout the area once more, hoping that he would find more answers. He walked to the training room, It was prohibited to enter unless accompanied by a scientist. He never went inside, his father wouldn’t allow it. But back in the day he caught a glimpse of the room, it was blurry, but he remembered his fellow test subject going inside and came out with bloodstains all over them. He vividly remember one girl, she was his closest friend. One day she went inside the training room and never returned. Garret has always regretted not going after her, but now he has a chance to see what it’s like beyond the damned door. As he opened the door, he found two E.P. agents fiddling around the far corner, trying to open a container there. One of them has a scar on his left eye, the same one that belonged to a man who killed his father and friends. Garret’s emotion suddenly flared beyond his control, the gruesome memories he remembered vividly starts playing over and over in his minds, his brown eyes turned red and his limbs start to overflow with venom, he charged at the agents with reckless abandon and knocked them away from the container. The agents were surprised and shocked to see him and drew their guns. However, Garret sends two electric pulses toward them, making their guns explode into bits. As the agents tried to scramble for a means to defend themselves, Garret shocked one of them into unconsciousness and quickly grab on to his father’s murderer and slam him against the wall. “Who who the hell are you!!” the agent asked, his voice was cracking, Garret’s sheer brute force crushed half of his larynx and fractured his ribcages. “I’m a boy whose family and friends were killed by you!!” Garret answered with a tone that would send a chill down the spines of even the most battle-hardened warrior. But the voice he spoke with wasn't his own. “What? I don’t know what you’re .no, it couldn’t be you you are supposed to be dead!!” Garret threw the agent on to the ground with full force, sending him flying over to the other corner of the room. As he walk slowly toward the agent, he charges his electric pulse, ready to blow the murderer into bits and pieces as an act of vengeance. However, as he was about to blow the agent up, Valora jumped on him from behind and hold him down. “What are you doing!! Let go!!” Garret struggled, but Valora has his hand locked, he tried to move closer to the agent who’s struggling to get up on his feet, but Valora just hold him down even more tightly. “No .what are YOU doing?!, Are you really going to blow this guy up!?” She asked Garret, trying to calm him down. “They .they’re responsible for all this!! He killed my father and so many others!! I’ll .I will kill him!!” Garret's crimson eyes were locked onto the murderers, it started to glow and the venom in his hands started to manifest, changing into a black gauntlet-like construct. He struggled even more, Valora was surprised at his enormous strength, but apply more force to hold him down. “Hey!! Keep it together you idiot!!, what will you accomplish by killing them!? Vengeance? Is that all you’re good for?” “You don’t know anything!! Let me go Val, or I will make you get off!!” “Garret!!! Come to your senses!! This isn’t who you are!! You’re turning into a monster and you don’t even know it!!” Garret began to charge his electricity again, trying to get Valora off his back, his glowing red eyes still fixed at his father’s murderer, who’s trying to flee the scene with his life. “I said LET .ME GO!!!!!” Garret released a pulse of electricity that knocked Val away from him, she landed on her feet but soon fell on her knees, trying to catch her breath. Garret turned toward the fleeing agents and sends a barrage of electric pulse toward them; however, they quickly closed the exit behind them, cutting the electric pulses off just in time. Garret was furious, he charges his hand with more electricity and tried to punch his way through them. However, as he was about to clash against the wall, he suddenly sensed Valora’s abnormal pulse, it was fading. He quickly turned around to see Val lying on the ground, trying to catch her breath, her breathing rhythms were out of place, and her life sign was fading fast. It was then that Garret realized what he has done. His eyes returned to its original color and the venom-gauntlet fade away, he rushed toward Val and place his hand on her chest, sending small pulses of electricity to stabilize her condition, however, her life signs only dwindle even more. “Dammit Val .come on!! Don’t die on me!!” Garret sends even bigger electric pulse into her body, trying to revive her, the pulse shocked her entire body and she suddenly grabbed onto his arms, with her eyes wide open. “Argh!!! Dammit ..can’t you be more gentle? I'm a delicate girl!!” Val’s breathing started to return to normal, she looked at Garret and let out a sigh of relieve. “Hah .turns out you’re still the same blockhead after all .didn’t I told you not to do anything reckless? Like going after EP agents on your own?” “Val I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to .” “What? Shock me to the brink of death? Well yeah that was a bit unexpected. Don't worry, I'll be fine. " "Val....are you really alright?" "Oh come on, I said don't worry!! You should be concerned about yourself though.....what the hell has gotten into you all of as sudden? It's like you turned into something.....sinister." "I...don't know. When I saw that bastard, I just lost it. He was the one that killed my father Val, he was the one that destroyed everything I've ever loved. when I see his face, everything he did just played over and over in my head, I just wanted to tear him into pieces and make him pay for what he did." Garret and Val split up and searched the facility, they found a security key the agents dropped while running way, along with vials of distilled Mordevenom in their bags. Val tried to use the security card on the socket as Salazar told her to, but without power, the card did nothing. She used the radio to call Garret; "Hey, I'm in the command center but there's no power. Can you uh...shock the right wires and power it up?" "I'm trying to open this damn container, I think it's some kind of portable power source.....there!!" "What?....tell me what happened?" "This container is actually a portable power source, those bastards were trying to revive the base. It's filled with wires and an empty socket....I think this is where the power source was supposed to go in." "Hm....how about that venom vial? can you put it in?" "Alright....here goes...." Garret put one of the venom vial inside the socket. The container started to power up and so does the base. The container also started to display texts, it's the location of the village and a full scale offensive attack plan. Garret was shocked at the revelation and urged Salazar of the imminent threat. “Salazar!! The agents are launching a full scale offensive tomorrow morning, you have to evacuate the village, quick!!”” “Dammit, Valora should be at the command center right now, meet up with her and download any information you could, it will help you later” "She's already with me, and Salazar.....I....." "Yeah, I know what you're talking about, the venom and it's.....effects, right? Don't worry, I'll tell you all about it later, right now, take everything you can from the base, I'll be going to the facility too. Remember, type in Project Overlord and download everything it came up with." "Wait.....how did you know what happened? I didn't...." "I'll tell you later, now get going!!" Garret ran back to the command center and tried to scrape up anything he could before more agents arrive. Valora was there, she handed him the key and Garret typed “Project overlord” as Salazar instructed him. The computer activates and shows a holographic interface in front of him. นี่เธอ วางปืนลงก่อนที่จะมีใครเจ็บตัวขึ้นมาจริงๆ” “ไม่... ไม่มีทาง ฉันจะไม่มีวันกลับไปที่นั่นอีกเด็ดขาด!!!” เด็กสาวพยายามอย่างเอาเป็นเอาตายที่จะยิงเขา แกเร็ตกำลังจะพุ่งเข้าไปปลดอาวุธเธอแต่วาลกลับแทรกตัวเข้ามาปลอบเด็กสาวพร้อมกับเอาปืนออกจากมือของเธอ “เฮ้ ไม่เป็นไรแล้ว พวกเราไม่ได้จะเอาตัวเธอไปไหนหรอก พวกเรามาเพื่อช่วยเธอต่างหาก” เด็กสาวผ่อนคลายลงและล้มลงสลบไป เห็นได้ชัดว่าเด็กสาวถูกจับตัวมาเป็นหนูทดลอง วาลอุ้มเธอออกมาจากซากเครื่องบินขณะที่แกเร็ตพยายามขุดคุ้ยหาข้อมูลเท่าที่จะหาได้ ชายหนุ่มพบเพียงการ์ดหน่วยความจำบนตัวศพของหน่อยกวาดล้างพิเศษ มันค่อนข้างยับเยินแต่ส่วนที่มีชื่อแปะยังอ่านได้ชัดเจน “วาล เธอรู้จักแซ็กเคอรี่ คาร์เตอร์ไหม?” “ไม่เลย แต่ถ้าเราพาเด็กคนนี้กลับไปที่หมู่บ้าน ซาลาซาร์อาจจะตอบเราได้ล่ะมั้ง” “งั้นก็กลับไปพร้อมเด็กคนนั้นก่อนเถอะ เดี๋ยวชั้นจะไปที่ศูนย์ก่อนแล้วเธอค่อยตามมาทีหลัง เอ้อ แล้วก็เอาไอ้คีย์การ์ดนั่นมาด้วย” “แกเร็ต...” “ไม่ต้องห่วงหรอกน่ายัยบ้าเอ้ย ตอนนี้ชั้นคือเทพสายฟ้าที่ไม่มีวันฆ่าตายนะ จำไม่ได้เหรอ?” “.....ก็ได้ เอาไอ้นี่ไปใส่ตรงช่องเล็กๆแถวๆประตูใหญ่ซะ แล้วเดี๋ยวมันจะเปิกดเอง......แต่เรายังต้องหาวิธีติดต่อกัน จนกว่าฉันจะกลับไปช่วยนายได้นะ” “อ่ะนี่ ชั้นเจอวิทยุคลื่นความถี่ต่ำสองตัวที่ยังใช้ได้อยู่ แต่มันเปื้อนเลือดพวกเจ้าพวกนั้นน่ะ ระวังหน่อยละกัน” “อี๋... เหม็นชะมัดเลย.....แต่อย่างน้อยมันก็ยังใช้ได้ล่ะนะ” “ไปเถอะวาล ดูแลเด็กคนนั้นให้ปลอดภัย แล้วก็อย่าลืมถามซาลาซาร์เรื่องนายคาร์เตอร์คนนั้นด้วย.....ชั้นรู้สึกเหมือนกับว่าเคยได้ยินชื่อนี้ที่ไหนมาก่อนแต่นึกไม่ออกแหะ บางทีไอ้เจ้าคาร์เตอร์นี่อาจจะเกี่ยวกับศูนย์ทดลองนี่ก็ได้ล่ะมั้ง" วาลอร่าตัดสินใจพาตัวเด็กสาวกลับไปที่แคมป์และเอาวิทยุไปด้วยอย่างที่แกเร็ตแนะนำ ส่วนตัวแกเร็ตนั้นออกเดินเท้าไปจนถึงศูนย์ทดลอง เมื่อมาถึงตรงประตูใหญ่แล้ว เขารู้สึกแปลกใจที่ตึกยังคงมีสภาพเกือบสมบูรณ์ ราวกับเปลวเพลิงในคืนนั้นไม่ได้ทำลายล้างตึกไปเลย หรือไม่มันอาจจะถูกหยุดด้วยฝีมือของใครบางคนก็เป็นได้ แกเร็ตสังเกตุเห็นรอยเท้าจำนวนมาก และมีบางอันดูเหมือนยังใหม่อยู่เลยด้วยซ้ำ มันเดินตรงเข้าไปในศูนย์ทดลอง ผ่านประตูเหล็กยักษ์ที่ขวางกั้นเขาอยู่ เขาใส่คีย์การ์ดลงไปในช่องเล็กๆแถงๆประตูอย่างที่วาลบอก ทันใดนั้นเอง ประตูก็เปิดขึ้น เขากระชับหอกเหล็กในมือของตัวเองก่อนจะสาวเท้าเดินเข้าไปในบ้านหลังเก่าของเขา มันช่างมืดหม่น และน่าขนหัวลุก เหมือนกับในวันที่ที่เขาหนีออกมา เพียงแต่ไม่มีไฟและเศษซากตึกที่คอยจะหล่นทับเขา และศพที่นอนเกลื่อนพื้นในคืนนั้น แกเร็ตยังคงจำเส้นทางภายในตึกได้ และเป้าหมายของเขานั้นรออยู่ในห้องควบคุมหลัก ผ่านห้องนั่งเล่นรวม ในขณะที่เขาเริ่มเข้าไปข้างในนั้น ไม่นานแกเร็ตก็ได้รับการติดต่อจากวาลอร่า เธอได้ไปถึงหมู่บ้านพร้อมกับเด็กสาวคนนั้นแล้ว "เฮ้ นี่วาลนะ ฉันกลับมาถึงที่หมู่บ้านพร้อมสาวน้อยคนนั้นแล้ว กำลังจะกลับไปหาเดี๋ยวนี้แหล่ะ นายอยู่ฝั่งนั้นเป็นยังไงบ้าง?"
