Green Hell เป็นเกมแนว Open World Survival Simulation ว่าด้วยการผจญภัยของชายหนุ่มนาม Jake ซึ่งเป็นนักวิทยาศาสตร์ เราเดินทางมายังป่าอเมซอนซึ่งเป็นป่าดิบชื้นกับแฟนสาวของเราซึ่งจุดประสงค์คือการมาทำงานวิจัย (หาคำตอบอะไรบางอย่าง) เกี่ยวกับชนเผ่าพื้นเมือง เกมจะมีการสอน Tutorial ให้คุณเล็กน้อยเพื่อให้เข้าใจ Concept เบื้องต้น อาทิ การดูแลค่าความหิวซึ่งจะแยกเป็น คาร์โบไฮเดรต, โปรตีน, ไขมัน และน้ำ รวมถึงค่าพลังงาน Energy ที่ได้มาจากการพักผ่อนหลับนอน ที่สามารถเช็คได้บนนาฬิกาของเรา แต่ที่สำคัญเกมนี้มีค่า Sanity หรือค่าทางจิตใจที่คุณต้องดูแลให้ดีด้วย มิฉะนั้นศัตรูที่น่ากลัวที่สุดในเกมจะไม่ใช่สัตว์หรือชาวเผ่าใดๆ แต่คุณตัวคุณเอง
